Istanbul Kültür University Faculty of Law commenced its academic activities in 1999 under the leadership of its Founding Dean, Prof. Dr. Tayfun Akgüner. Following Prof. Dr. Akgüner, who held the position of Dean until 2004, Prof. Dr. Atilla Altop was appointed as Dean and served until the 2005–2006 academic year. Taking over the deanship in the 2005–2006 academic year, Prof. Dr. İlhan Ulusan served until the end of the 2008–2009 academic year. In the 2009–2010 academic year, Prof. Dr. Bahri Öztürk assumed the post, and most recently, Prof. Dr. Cemile Gökyayla was appointed as Dean in the 2025–2026 academic year.
Having started its educational journey in the 1999–2000 academic year with 118 undergraduate students, our Faculty produced its first graduates in the 2002–2003 academic year. Continuing its undergraduate education today with 705 students in the 2024–2025 academic year, our Faculty launched its postgraduate programs (Master's and Ph.D.) in public law and private law in 2003. Our Faculty is located at the Bahçelievler Campus, one of the three major campuses of Istanbul Kültür University. At the Bahçelievler Campus, undergraduate education is provided under the Faculty of Law, while master's and doctoral studies are offered within the Graduate Education Institute. Committed since its establishment to educating well-equipped legal professionals with sufficient knowledge in both theory and practice, our Faculty has taken its place among the leading foundation higher education institutions in our country thanks to its extensive and qualified academic staff.
